In a unanimous vote of the Maui County Committee, Maui Democrats put Lance Holter, a lifelong Democrat and activist, at the helm. The election was held at a special meeting of the Maui Democrats County Committee, comprised of Officers, District Chairs and Precinct Presidents, at Moana Café in Paia.

Holter is a champion of affordable housing, clean local and sustainable energy, and protecting Maui’s shoreline, environment, and future.

Dottie Binder (D-12) was elected Vice-Chair, filling former Vice-Chair Holter’s seat, and attorney Lance Collins replaces outgoing Karen Jeffery as Media and Corresponding Chair.

Discussions followed the special elections regarding the procedure for censuring elected officials for failing to uphold party positions and resolutions, and a committee was established to demand accountability amongst elected Democratic officials.

A vote to approve new Party rules was tabled until an April 14th meeting.
